Sweet Charity573 viewsMembers of the ORR Student Council recently raised $1,600 for My Sister’s Keeper Charity, a women-led humanitarian action group co-founded by Liz Walker, anchorwoman for Channel 4 News in Boston. Members of the Student Council pose here with Liz (back center) during a recent visit to the Mattapoisett campus. With this donation they will be able to supply 50 girls with books, paper, uniforms, and writing utensils for the entire school year.

Celebrating the 4th573 viewsMarion's annual fireworks display attracted several thousand people to the town's Silvershell Beach Park on Friday evening July, 3. The Marion town band entertained the crowd until dusk when the night's big show lit up the sky's above Sippican Harbor. Cushing Post 2425 Veterans of Foreign Wars. SLT Oyster Fest 573 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Marion Natural History Museum573 viewsOne hull or two? On March 11, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group explored the physics behind sailboat design. Mark Whalen, engineer with Massachusetts Maritime Academy, introduced several alternative design ideas for constructing our own sailboats. The students explored a variety of hull designs, mast locations and different sizes and shapes of sails. Then they raced the vessels in rain gutters to see which design moved fastest.
