Marion Natural History Museum387 viewsArtist/Naturalist/Educator Patricia Cassidy gives the Marion Natural History Museum after-school group some tips for creating their own scientific illustrations. Cassidy showed students examples of her own works, then students created their own pieces. Many of these wonderful works may be seen on the Museum's Facebook page and website at www.marionmuseum.org. Many thanks to Ms. Cassidy for sharing her talent with us! Photo courtesy of Elizabeth Liedhold

Marion Memorial Day387 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch

Marion Natural History Museum387 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Explorations summer nature program had a wonderful time last week exploring a diverse selection of natural areas. We investigated marshes, bogs, vernal pools, and upland forest habitats and the plants and animals that call these areas home. The museum would like to thank the Marion Harbormaster's office for allowing us access to Bird Island to take a look at some of our more rare and endangered birds and their nesting habitat.
