Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town. The museum lost many of its specimens during our ceiling collapse and these incredibly detailed pieces are greatly appreciated. Hundreds upon hundreds of little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins took to the streets to show off their costumes and follow it up with some treats (no tricks) and refreshments at the Marion Music Hall, sponsored by those very kind witches at the Marion Art Center. Double Eagle373 viewsArtist Augustus Saint-Gaudens models a portrait of a woman, Mrs. Cleveland, in the Old Stone Studio in Marion, 1887. Mr. Saint-Gaudens designed the Double Eagle gold coin in 1907. The coin was highly sought-after, and a reproduction of the coin has been added to the Sippican Historical Society Museum. Over 20 girls dressed in their pink and red finest enjoyed dainty finger foods, festive cupcakes, red fruit punch, and tea. Marion Clean-up373 viewsMarion residents hit the street to pick up trash around town on Saturday, May 15. All over Marion, there were people in day-glo vests working with Manducas, long pincers made by Marion resident Eunice Manduca for picking up trash. Police Dedication373 viewsThe public was invited to a building dedication and ceremony for the new Marion police station on July 10, 2010. The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee.
