Taber Fall Lapsit Program419 viewsThe Fall Lapsit Program for babies kicked off on October 7 at the Taber Library in Marion. Babies and their caregivers enjoy 20 minutes of stories and 20 minutes of social time. Children’s Librarian Rosemary Gray delighted five happy babies with some peekaboo, short stories such as Where is Baby’ Belly Button, and songs like the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Marion Fire Department419 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Marion Natural History Museum419 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group enjoyed a wonderful program about sea turtles of Buzzards Bay last Wednesday. During the program the students had a chance to view videos of hatchling turtles, learn a little about sea turtle biology, and handle some live terrapins. Hot-To-Trot Dog Walk419 viewsOn November 30, a spring-like winter’s day, the Sippican Lands Trust held its 2nd annual Hot-To-Trot Post-Thanksgiving Day dog walk. About 12 dogs of all shapes and sizes brought their humans out for a guided tour of the White Eagle property located off Route 6 in Marion. Dogs received stylish orange neckerchiefs and dog treats. There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall.
