Taber Fall Lapsit Program418 viewsThe Fall Lapsit Program for babies kicked off on October 7 at the Taber Library in Marion. Babies and their caregivers enjoy 20 minutes of stories and 20 minutes of social time. Children’s Librarian Rosemary Gray delighted five happy babies with some peekaboo, short stories such as Where is Baby’ Belly Button, and songs like the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Marion Fire Department418 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Marion Natural History Museum418 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group enjoyed a wonderful program about sea turtles of Buzzards Bay last Wednesday. During the program the students had a chance to view videos of hatchling turtles, learn a little about sea turtle biology, and handle some live terrapins. Breakfast with Santa418 viewsMarion’s Police Brotherhood held its 3rd annual toy drive and pancake breakfast with Santa at Sippican School on December 6. Families were asked to bring new unwrapped toys, and in return they were given a delicious pancake breakfast and a photo with Santa. The toys are being donated to the Justice Resource Institute, which provides a wide range of services to at-risk families and individuals. Photos by Marilou Newell

Marion Firefighter’s Association418 viewsThe Marion Firefighter’s Association held its annual spaghetti supper fundraiser on Saturday, January 31 at the Marion VFW. The money raised goes towards purchasing gear, supplies, and equipment outside the regular Fire Department budget. Hungry guests came for the spaghetti and stayed for the fun. Photos by Colin Veitch
