Chemistry of Tie Dye324 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's last afterschool program of this school year featured "Chemistry of Tie Dye" with Chemist Jessica Robidoux and coordinated by Dr. William (Toby) Dills of UMass Dartmouth's Chemistry Department. The Museum wishes to thank Ms. Robidoux, Dr. Dills, and all the many volunteers who showed up to help with the program. Marion Village 5K324 viewsThe Marion Village 5K is in its 19th year, and over 250 participants turned out to run the 3.1-mile course along the waterfront and through the quaint Marion village. Antique Car Show324 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. Library Henna324 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. As part of a new initiative to draw teens into the library, the afternoon henna event was held on March 1 and attracted 13 area teens to experience the beauty of henna. Photos by Colin Veitch

Marion Memorial Day324 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch
