Marion Natural History Museum385 viewsLast week the Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool program welcomed the Cape Cod Cranberry Grower’s educator Dawn Allen. Students learned how to tell a ripe cranberry from a spoiled one and who some of the animals are that are found on a bog. They were able to try on the same types of waders the Ocean Spray guys wear on the tv commercials. The Museum’s next program is Nature Crafts, on December 12th.

‘The Secret’385 viewsThe Marion Art Center wrapped up the first session of Artstart with a production of ‘The Secret’ this Friday. The two-week program for children ages four to nine focuses on arts, crafts, music, theater and stories. Program director Nancy Sparklin said the children had great fun and all got along wonderfully. Museum Director, Elizabeth Leidhold, helped the kids to explore the physical structure of a bog, and how to tell a healthy berry from a rotten one. The students then made “mini-bogs” to take home.
