Fill-A-Cruiser Toy Drive427 viewsSunday’s Fill-A-Cruiser toy drive at Sippican Elementary School was a success! Volunteers representing the Marion Police Department, Police Brotherhood, and Sippican School (VASE) welcomed a parade of vehicles of families dropping off a variety of Christmas gifts for cookies and cupcakes. MAC Show426 viewsA two-person show will be opening at the Marion Art Center on February 28 with a reception to meet the artists from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The first exhibit, entitled “Beauty in the Boatyard – Ten Years at Burr Brothers” is by artist Terry Coleman, and the second exhibit entitled “Landscapes and Figures, Real and Imaginary” is by artist Molly Watson Hawley. Both artists have ties to New England and Marion.

All over Marion, there were people in day-glo vests working with “Manducas”, long pincers made by Marion resident Eunice Manduca for picking up trash. Marion Art Center Show426 viewsThe Marion Art Center unveiled its new show in a special opening reception at the gallery on Friday, January 11. The 2013 Winter Members Exhibition features over 60 works by about 30 local artists, some well-known and some new to the local art scene. This is the first of two bi-annual shows that showcase work by members of MAC, from oil paintings to multi-media. Check out some of the great art work being created by Tri-Town artists. Pinewood Derby426 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Other awards included, Best Theme to Connor Lavoie for his Batmobile, Best Design to David Strom for Kool Kone and Best Paint Job to Max Richins for Bulldog. Photos by Felix Perez
