Antique Car Show465 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. Each teacher devised their own scavenger hunt for the kids that helped the students discover their classrooms. Library Henna465 viewsThe Elizabeth Taber Library hosted a henna tattoo program for teens, with each guest receiving their own henna creation by professional henna artist Heather Cault-Nulton. The art of henna dates back thousands of years and has recently grown in popularity. Kids Equipment Fun Day465 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. This year, Recreation Director and Selectman Jody Dickerson served up free hotdogs during the popular event that seemed to draw a bigger crowd this year than the previous years. Photos by Ethan Akins

Boots465 viewsMarion resident ‘Boots’ the cat, AKA ‘Mr. Boots’ is a familiar sight to neighbors of Little Neck Village in Marion when he takes his owner Suzanne Peterson out for a walk around his little world several times a day with his little cat collar and leash. Living History 465 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean
