Annual Turkey Trot 5K 371 viewsThe Annual Turkey Trot 5K wound its way through Marion Village on Sunday, November 17, with 182 trotters (and some ‘turkeys’ as well) braving a chilling wind that morning to make it to the finish line. Organized by the Marion Recreation Department, the event every year draws quite a flock of runners to the start and finish line at Tabor Academy, raising funds for Marion Rec programs and events. Marion Fire Department 371 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before.
