Hundreds upon hundreds of little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins took to the streets to show off their costumes and follow it up with some treats (no tricks) and refreshments at the Marion Music Hall, sponsored by those very kind witches at the Marion Art Center. Marion Natural History Museum340 viewsOn Valentines Day, the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had a chance to learn about humpback and right whales. Dr. Moore of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution showed the students how a drone may be used to observe a whale's spout to determine its health. We also had a chance to view bubble-netting practices of humpbacks, see how baleen plates fit in a whale's mouth, and discussed the hazards the whales face due to entanglements in fishing gear. Santa's Arrival339 viewsMarion children gave a rock star’s welcome to Santa Claus, who arrived at Marion’s Annual Holiday Stroll by boat on December 13. The pouring rain didn’t stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children. 4th Fireworks339 viewsDespite funding setbacks, the Marion fireworks took place this year at Silver Shell Beach under perfectly clear skies. Revelers enjoyed the patriotic music of Phil Sanborn and the Marion Concert Band while brilliant colors illuminated the harbor.
