Marion Fire Department 440 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before. Life of a Dog439 views“Clark Davis And Her Dogs” is the theme of the Marion Art Center's Fourth of July float, which will be in the Marion parade on July 5. Cecil Clark Davis (1877-1955), an animal lover, was one of Marion's most famous artist residents and is remembered for her elegant portraits. In the spirit of Cecil and her dogs, the Marion Art Center invites dog owners to participate in their festive float for the "WestMarionster Dog Show." The parade route is about two miles.
