Ronald Wisner (left) has taken travel photography to a heightened level with larger-than-life views of some of the world’s most familiar places.

Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day342 viewsLittle kids and big, big machines on a warm spring Marion morning made for tons of fun at the Marion Recreation’s Second Annual Kid’s Equipment Day on May 10. A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field. There were plenty of Department of Public Works, police, and fire personnel on hand to demonstrate how the vehicles work, to turn on lights and alarms, and answer questions. Photo by Jean Perry

Field Day Fun at Sippican School 342 viewsFriday morning we caught some first-graders in the middle of a hula-hoop relay on the grounds of Sippican School. Holding hands and cheering each other on, the kids twisted and turned themselves through the hoops and the first team to get their hoop to travel down and up the line again won the relay. Can you guess which team won? Photo by Jean Perry

Marion 4th of July Parade342 viewsThe cool, post-Hurricane Arthur breeze was a welcomed factor in Marion’s July 5th 4th of July Parade, postposed because of the heavy rains the day before. Hundreds turned out to line the streets in Marion Center and along the parade route that looped around the center of Town. Photos by Jean Perry

Butterfly Release342 viewsDebbie Thompson of Marion raised monarch butterflies from caterpillar to chrysalis with her preschool students and finally released them on September 26. This is the second year Thompson raised butterflies, tagged them, and released them into the wild with her students. “For the kids it’s such a magical thing,” said Thompson. The bright blue sky made a spectacular backdrop for the butterflies’ bright wings as they flew away. Photos by Jean Perry

Marion Village Stroll342 viewsThere were hundreds strolling the streets during the 2014 Marion Holiday Stroll on December 14. Celebrity sightings included Santa Claus on his carriage, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Sparky the Fire Dog. The Showstoppers and The Sippican School Marching Band lit up the afternoon until the tree lighting ceremony lit up the night, the finale of that starry-skied evening. Many thanks to Don Lewis and Sue Wieber Nourse for sharing their expertise with us. We are confident that these budding naturalists will be keeping their eyes open for more evidence of these remarkable animals along our beaches. Marion Natural History Museum342 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group hit the beach Wednesday afternoon. We found many types of fish, including Puffer fish, Tautogs, and other animals such as Mantis shrimp, and all sorts of crabs. It was a great way to celebrate one of the last days of summer. Many thanks to Sarah Porter and all those parents who helped out. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold
