Marion Natural History Museum376 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum welcomed a visit from Mark Whelan, engineer with Sippican/Lockheed Martin Corp. Mark allowed us to experiment with compression, stability and buoyancy. We built our own submarines and figured out how to make it sink, but not too fast. Then we held a race to see whose submarine sank the slowest. The group had a great time working with all the materials and we’d like to thank Mark and Sippican/Lockheed Martin for the wonderful program.

We had the opportunity to see terns, geese, ducks, cormorants, and oystercatchers, as well as a trip to the top of the lighthouse. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach.
