5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot378 viewsThere were 31 registered runners for this year’s 5th Annual 5K Turkey Trot for Marion Recreation on Sunday, November 22. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Hot to Trot378 viewsThe third annual “Hot to Trot” dog walk hosted by the Sippican Lands Trust brought about 20 dogs and at least twice as many humans out for a post-Thanksgiving walk at the SLT’s White Eagle property in Marion on November 29. Kids Equipment Fun Day378 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. This year, Recreation Director and Selectman Jody Dickerson served up free hotdogs during the popular event that seemed to draw a bigger crowd this year than the previous years. Photos by Ethan Akins

Turtle Care378 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove.
