Marion Block Party415 views: The Marion Block Party was held on Saturday, August 25, 2012, in front of the Town Hall. The family bar-b-que lasted all day, and featured a classic car display, live music, and kids activities. Proceeds from the event will go to help fund the construction of a new playground at Washburn Park and to help pay for a new thermal imager for the Marion Fire Department. Nightmare at 13415 viewsThe Marion Recreation Committee hosted a Nightmare at 13 Atlantis Drive Haunted House Tour on Saturday October 27th. The fund raiser was originally scheduled to run for two nights and to include Sunday but was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. Art in Bloom 415 viewsThe Marion Art Center’s Art in Bloom opened on Friday, organizers and volunteers gathered Friday afternoon to prepare the exhibit. Works by Mary Jane McCoy and Arthur Kvarnstrom will be paired with interpretative floral arrangements by members of the Marion Garden Discussion Group. Art in Bloom runs through July 13. The Marion Art Center Gallery is open on Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Photo by Shawn Badgley

Coastal Explorations II 415 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago.
