Marion Village 5K458 viewsThe number of participants in this year’s Marion Village 5K might have been down slightly according to race organizers, but the sentiment of fun and competition certainly was not on Saturday, June 25. Taking first place for men was Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro with a time of 15:43, and Meg Hughes of Rochester won first place in the women’s division with a time of 19:50. Marion Natural History Museum458 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after school group learned some tricks to identifying local winter birds with Justin Barrett, president of the Nasketucket Bird Group. Students used binoculars to view robins, cardinals, mourning doves and Canada geese. We also spoke about the Great Backyard Bird Count that took place February 17-20. We covered the development of this anadromous species, its diet, and where it stands in the food chain. The students learned about herring eggs and how neutral buoyancy plays an important role in their development.
