Pinewood Derby390 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Billy Joel Tribute 390 views“Falling of the Rain,” may not be the biggest hit of Billy Joel produced but the Billy Joel Tribute at Silvershell beach on Saturday had no shortage of falling rain. Dozens of die hard supporters showed up despite the rain to help support the Marion Police Brotherhood and to hear the “Eric Robert: Billy Joel Tribute.” It must be true, “you can’t stop the falling of the rain!” or stop the fans. This annual event is sugar on the plums for anyone who appreciates live music. The combined voices and instruments of over 60 performers filled the church with pitch perfect music telling the story of Jesus’ birth. Marion Art Center Members Show390 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28.
