Coastal Explorations II 363 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago. Cranberry Program363 viewsOn Wednesday, Nov. 20th, he Marion Natural History Museum after-school group investigated how a cranberry bog formed in New England. Museum Director, Elizabeth Leidhold, helped the kids to explore the physical structure of a bog, and how to tell a healthy berry from a rotten one. The students then made “mini-bogs” to take home. Boy Scouts of Marion, Troop 32363 viewsThe Boy Scouts of Marion, Troop 32 recently took part in a Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Class at the Marion Fire Department that was arranged by Star Scout Chris Horton. Firefighters Mike Enright and Kevin Buckley taught a Friends and Family version of CPR class in two hours. The Scouts got hands on experience in what it takes to save a life and the dangers therein.

Marion Natural History Museum363 viewsOn Wednesday, Dec. 10th, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group enjoyed working on crafts from nature and recycled materials. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a happy and fun-filled event. Many, many thanks to Grace Moran for her kind donation of frames complete with glass, which the students used to create their own masterpieces for gift-giving.
