Marion Art Center Members Show430 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28. Dr. Tom Burns430 viewsDr. Tom Burns, an avid underwater photographer, shared many of the photos he has taken of many of New England’s shark species in a lively and entertaining program at the Marion Natural History Museum last Friday. Dr. Burns is a veterinarian on Cape Cod and enjoys sharing his knowledge of shark species and their natural history with the public. Rockets430 viewsThis past Wednesday and Thursday the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool groups constructed their own rockets. During lift off some went incredible distances, one ending up on a roof and at least one in a tree. The kids and the parents all had a great time. The Museum wishes to thank Mike and Alex Cronin of "Design Principles" for volunteering to help us construct and lift off the rockets, and all the many parents who stuck around to help with the construction and clean up afterward.

Annual Marion SpringFest430 viewsMay 9 was the day of the Annual Marion SpringFest sponsored by the Sippican Lands Trust and the Tree and Parks Committee! There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. The Sippican Lands Trust wants to thank the Town because the platform would not have been possible without funding from the Community Preservation Act Fund.
