Marion Town Party437 viewsChalk up another successful Marion Town Party as several hundred party-goers found good food and fun on the grounds of the Town House on 8/25. Children of all ages enjoyed inflatable games, climbing the rock wall, or jumping around to music. The annual party has its roots deep in the community and may have started as early at 1900. This year’s event featured live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, and lots of good food.

Marion Holiday Stroll437 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year. Marion Natural History Museum437 viewsOver the past two Wednesdays, the MNHM afterschool group visited Bird Island courtesy of Isaac and Peter of the Marion Harbormaster's office. We observed many terns arriving to this crucial nesting spot, as well as oystercatchers, gulls, and a pair of Canadian geese. We inspected nesting boxes prepared by the state Fish & Wildlife department and the habitat restoration improvements to the island. We also toured the 200-year-old lighthouse.
