Marion Art Center Halloween Parade 481 viewsIt looked as though nearly a thousand people came out for the Marion Art Center Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31. The event gets bigger and better every year, it seems, judging by the number of people and the degree of creativity when it comes to the costumes. Photos by Jean Perry

Touch-A-Truck481 viewsSaturday, May 13, was the rescheduled rain date for the Marion Recreation Department’s annual Touch-A-Truck event at Washburn Park. Living History 481 viewsIt looked like July 8, 1776 at Silvershell Beach in Marion this past Saturday. Folks from the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Militia Group in conjunction with Marion Recreation and the Marion Cultural Council took spectators back in time to Colonial Massachusetts during a weekend-long encampment at the beach. Participants in olde-tyme apparel demonstrated what life was like in the 1770s during the Revolutionary War through demonstrations of drilling, cooking, and flintlock musket use. Photos by Jean

Marion Fire Department 481 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before. Tie a Blue Ribbon480 viewsDon't fear the ribbon. Marion residents may see blue ribbons around trees in the village area, marking particularly large trees near power lines. N Star has attached blue ribbons to "wish list" trees that they would like to remove. They will be in contact with the property owners, who will be able to grant or deny permission.
