Marion Natural History Museum378 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group had a wonderful time exploring what works (and what doesn't) when constructing a wooden sailboat. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. After decorating their vessels, students raced the boats down two long rain gutters filled with water. Many thanks to engineer Mark Whalen for yet another terrific program! Marion Holiday Stroll378 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year. Marion’s Annual Halloween Parade378 viewsThe weather held out for Marion’s Annual Halloween Parade sponsored by the “volunteer witches” at the Marion Art Center. The dark and windy weather conditions didn’t detract from the fun, and instead added a nice backdrop to the spookiest night of the year. Photos by Shawn Sweet
