Dr. Tom Burns419 viewsDr. Tom Burns, an avid underwater photographer, shared many of the photos he has taken of many of New England’s shark species in a lively and entertaining program at the Marion Natural History Museum last Friday. Dr. Burns is a veterinarian on Cape Cod and enjoys sharing his knowledge of shark species and their natural history with the public. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove. Tom spoke about how clearing land for agriculture, forestry products, and other influences has shaped our current wooded areas.

Marion Fire Department 419 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before.
