Marion Holiday Stroll510 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year. SLT Oyster Fest 510 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Marion Art Center510 viewsThe Marion Art Center is pleased to present a new exhibition featuring paintings by Anne Holtermann and photographs by Nancy Rich. An artists’ reception will be held on Friday, October 4, 6-8pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 2pm, with extended hours on Thursdays, 10am to 6pm. Cushing Community Center on Sunday, December 8. ‘Chief’ Santa and Mrs. Claus entertained the little ones before enjoying a pizza lunch. Hannah Strom Homecoming 510 viewsHundreds of supporters lined the sidewalks along Front Street in Marion village on June 3 to welcome home Hannah Strom. After spending several months in hospitals in Florida and Boston, the Tabor Academy graduate and member of the Holy Cross women's rowing team returned to her Pitcher Street residence to continue her recovery from severe injuries sustained in a January 15 collision with a pickup truck in Vero Beach that took the life of her teammate Grace Rett and injured her coach and several other teammat

The public was welcome to tour the facilities, and children enjoyed exploring all the engines available at the station. Coastal Explorations II 509 viewsMany thanks to Karen Moore Dourdeville for her excellent presentation to the Coastal Explorations II summer program regarding the sea turtles of Buzzards Bay. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago.
