Marion Holiday Stroll400 viewsThe Marion village streets were filled with holiday revelers on Sunday, December 9, for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll. Santa’s boat docked at the Marion Wharf where the faces of hundreds of children lit up at his arrival. Santa boarded a horse-drawn carriage and paraded through the streets, passing businesses offering free goodies and dodging the whereabouts of that old Grinch who didn’t seem to mind Christmas coming at all this year. An artists’ reception will be held on Friday, October 4, 6-8pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 2pm, with extended hours on Thursdays, 10am to 6pm. Cushing Community Center on Sunday, December 8. ‘Chief’ Santa and Mrs. Claus entertained the little ones before enjoying a pizza lunch. Historic Fire399 viewsAccording to the Marion assessors database, the house was built in 1690. Other records indicate that the house suffered a fire in the early 1700s, and was rebuilt in 1750. The extent of the rebuild is unknown. Like many 17th century homes, this house originally had a center chimney that will be completely removed with the move.
