The 2013 Winter Members Exhibition features over 60 works by about 30 local artists, some well-known and some new to the local art scene. This is the first of two bi-annual shows that showcase work by members of MAC, from oil paintings to multi-media. Check out some of the great art work being created by Tri-Town artists. Did you know that the cecropia moth is Massachusetts’ largest insect? And that it has a wingspan of up to 6 inches? Blake also brought in a live praying mantis and many specimens of moths and winged insects under glass to take a close up look at with magnifiers. Marion Natural History Museum448 viewsOn November 28, the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group hosted Manny da Costa, a watershed scientist from Inter-fluve. Da Costa discussed some river restoration projects and taught about the importance of rivers for fish passage and water quality for our watershed. Student groups worked on problems involving hydrology, fish passage, riparian (rivers), and shellfish, and came up with some great ideas for protecting our watershed.
