Brady (right), who suffers from a congenital heart defect, and classmate Ty Dumas traveled by motorcade with diplomatic security to meet with Gov. Deval Patrick, who showed the children his collection of challenge coins. Patrick also provided Brady with a citation to commemorate the visit.

(Yuck!) Or a yellow birch? (Yum!) We learned about opposite and alternate leaf arrangement on a branch, what lenticels look like on a birch and a hickory, and that you can make tea out of sassafras.
