Marion Natural History Museum317 viewsOn October 20, the Marion Natural History Museum’s after-school group spent time learning a little about our migrating bird populations. We found out that the Arctic tern migrates 50,000 miles, which is the longest distance of any bird. The ruby-throated hummingbird can migrate as far as Mexico and Central America in search of flowers and insects. We then went on a bird walk and managed to find a mourning dove, blue jay, European starling, black-capped chickadee, and belted kingfisher, among other birds.

Marion Water352 viewsAs the Boil Water Order remained in effect for the Town of Marion through a second weekend, fresh water was made available to residents on October 16. All hands were on deck as members of the Select Board, Fire Department, Police Department, and DPW assisted. Select Board Chair Norm Hills said that 1,000 cases of water would be distributed throughout the day at the Cushing Community Center. Each household with proof of residency received one case of bottled water.

Good News289 viewsOn October 14, Jeff and Lauren Paine of Pine Meadow Farms in Mattapoisett brought Alpacas “Good News,” a two-year-old male, and “Patience,” a 10-year-old female, to the Loft School in Marion, where Debbi Dyson's Pre-K class has been learning about Peru and the country’s alpacas and llamas.
