Presentation with the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club
Local residents are invited to join the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club for an engaging presentation by local author Michelle Cusolito, Surrounded by Water: Life on a Research Vessel in the Middle of the Atlantic. The program will take place on Thursday, October 15, at 11:30 am at Reynard Hall, inside the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. The event is open to the public.
Cusolito, M.Ed., is an award-winning author whose books have been named Junior Library Guild Selections, received multiple starred reviews, and appeared on numerous “Best Of” lists. During her presentation, Cusolito will take attendees behind the scenes of life aboard a research vessel, sharing stories and photographs from her time at sea with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
She will offer an insider’s look at what it’s like to live and work on a research ship — from moving aboard and unpacking equipment to weathering massive storms in the middle of the North Atlantic.
Attendees will also learn about fascinating new technologies being used to study the deep ocean and will have the opportunity to see photographs of deep-sea animals that few people ever encounter in person.
Michelle Cusolito’s books will be available for purchase following the presentation.
The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club is a civic, social, educational and philanthropic organization dedicated to serving the local community. Membership is open to local women who share an interest in the organization’s objectives and mission.
