Mattapoisett Museum Annual Meeting

September 3 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Please join the Mattapoisett Museum at 5 Church St on Thursday, September 3, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm for its Annual Meeting. After a brief business meeting, curator and administrator of the Mattapoisett Museum, Connor E. Gaudet, will give a presentation on Mattapoisett’s iconic swordfish weathervane and the man who carved the original, Harry D. Doty, as well as the man widely believed to have carved the swordfish weathervane, Manual R. Perry. Gaudet will discuss their lives and work and explore possible reasons Perry was credited for Doty’s work.

Gaudet has been the Curator and Administrator of the Mattapoisett Museum and Archivist at the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center for the past three years. Previously, he was the Curator at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth for two years, and Associate Curator at the 9/11 Tribute Center in New York City for three years. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Public History and Archives from New York University and has a Master of Library and Information Science from Long Island University. He was the primary research assistant for Pulitzer Prize-winning author Joseph Lelyveld’s 2017 book, His Final Battle: The Last Months of Franklin Roosevelt, and has worked as a researcher for the TLC show “Who Do You Think You Are?”

This free presentation is open to all. Refreshments will be served after the program.
