Marion Natural History Museum88 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a great time learning about Monarch life history and migration yesterday. The group sent a card to a school in Mexico near the Oyamel fir forests of the Central Highlands to share a little information about Marion. We’ll be hearing back from them next spring with more information about the Monarch’s winter habitat. Many thanks to Maggie Payne for sharing her butterfly expertise with the group! Marion Village Christmas Stroll87 viewsThe Marion Village Christmas Stroll was this past cold and snowy Sunday. Santa and Ms. Clause arrived by their usual boat, though the cold and the wind sure made it look difficult to dock. Excited kids hurled snowballs all around (and at each other) as they waited for St. Nick. Photo by Sam Bishop

Veterans Day84 viewsAttendees to the Veterans Day celebrations in Mattapoisett this past Tuesday. They gathered at the front of the Mattapoisett Congressional Church to await the bells ringing at 11:00 am. As they waited, a few stray snowflakes drifted down from a white sky. Following that, they walked across the street to Center School for performances by the Showstoppers and The Old Hammondtown Band. Photo by Sam Bishop

Daffodil Bulbs84 viewsMr. Squire and Dr. Cassi's 5th grade students at Old Hammondtown School planting 200 Daffodil Bulbs donated by the Mattapoisett Land Trust Education Committee. The planting of the bulbs in an area behind of the school, was the culmination of a science lesson on the structure and function of a bulb as well as the environmental factors necessary for its growth and flower production. The students thoroughly enjoyed getting their hands dirty. Photos by Wendy Copps and Mary Cabral
