Korejwa conducted a Woodland Walk for Mushrooms event at Shoolman Preserve in Rochester. Bolete, russula, honey, ghost pipe, and cauliflower mushrooms were all spotted, along with countless others. Whether it be on the ground, on a waterlogged fallen tree, or up the side of a living host-tree, mushrooms seemed to be all about. Marion Natural History Museum94 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a great time learning about Monarch life history and migration yesterday. The group sent a card to a school in Mexico near the Oyamel fir forests of the Central Highlands to share a little information about Marion. We’ll be hearing back from them next spring with more information about the Monarch’s winter habitat. Many thanks to Maggie Payne for sharing her butterfly expertise with the group! The event saw hundreds of students, their siblings, and other kiddos come give their Halloween costumes a trial-run and get some candy at a trunk-or-treat. Mattapoisett Santa Stampede93 viewsThe Mattapoisett Santa Stampede took place on Saturday, December 6 with over 300 Santas taking place. The 5K began at Shipyard Park and cut down Ned’s Point Road to the point, around the lighthouse and back. The Grinch led the pack on his bike, and residents stood by to cheer on all the runners.
