We met Milo the Fennec Fox and had a chance to compare attributes of Peter Quill the hedgehog to Iris the tenrec. We also met a skunk, a ferret, and a very friendly chinchilla. Monday Morning Painters113 viewsThe Monday Morning Painters are a group of dedicated artists who for more than 10 years have supported one another in their painting journeys. The group meets at the Rochester Council on Aging and welcomes like-minded artists to join them. Unique to this group, their painting is not under the direction of a leader, each artist works at their own pace. Korejwa conducted a Woodland Walk for Mushrooms event at Shoolman Preserve in Rochester. Bolete, russula, honey, ghost pipe, and cauliflower mushrooms were all spotted, along with countless others. Whether it be on the ground, on a waterlogged fallen tree, or up the side of a living host-tree, mushrooms seemed to be all about. Roughly 40 people showed, including members of mycological societies, amateur enthusiasts, Rhode Islander

Marion Natural History Museum 113 viewsOn Friday evening, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Dr. Kathryn Kavanagh of UMass Dartmouth’s biology department. Speaking on Humpback whales, Dr. Kavanagh covered several stages, including giving birth (tail first), and how male humpbacks shield the mother while she’s giving birth by creating a bubble-net screen. Tickets were sold out and the venue was filled up. Oysters were served alongside beer and whatever food the over 20 different tables decided to bring.
