Hundreds attended and greeted jolly old Saint Nick as he rode in on the town’s new yellow fire tower truck. Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race405 viewsIt rained, again, for the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race on Monday, May 29, but that never stops the participants from paddling the 14 miles of the Mattapoisett River that winds from Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir in Snipatuit Pond in Rochester all the way to the Herring Weir in Mattapoisett off River Road and Route 6. Cat Tails and Cocktails 405 viewsIt’s All About the Animals last Thursday held an invitation-only cocktail party to celebrate the opening of its new addition and “catio” (cats + screened-in patio= catio). The addition was dedicated to contractor Matthew Sherman, who passed away before completion of the project. The new addition is ready for final touches, and the old section of the building will undergo a renovation process over the next year during school vacations. Rochester Historical Society404 viewsThe Rochester Historical Society welcomed Tri-Town residents to its Open House at the East Rochester Church on Saturday afternoon, displaying local wedding fashions, music, and art from the early 1900s. Frosty Runner Road Race404 viewsRunners who participated in the third annual Frosty Runner Road Race enjoyed spring-like weather, perfect for a 10 mile or 3 mile run through the neighborhoods of Rochester. The two separate races were run simultaneously, beginning and ending at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday February 1.
