Rochester Country Fair 395 viewsThe Rochester Country Fair rolled into town on Thursday, August 18, filled the air with the sweet smells of Italian sausage and fried fair food, mixed with the smoke of diesel engines, and created that magical scent we all relish until the fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 21. Tractor pulls, animal shows, kids’ games, music, and wrestling (including the match between The Aardvark and Buck Chuck) delighted us while it lasted in the bucolic setting of Rochester, Massachusetts. Octopurrfest395 viewsThe Rochester cat shelter “It’s All About the Animals” held its 2nd Annual Octopurrfest on Sunday, October 2. Raising over $7,000, owner/operator Pam Robinson said this year’s event was “absolutely over the top!” The shelter is in the process of building an addition to create a cat room and a porch. “I cannot thank everyone enough for their wonderful donation and participation,” said Robinson. Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race395 viewsIt rained, again, for the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race on Monday, May 29, but that never stops the participants from paddling the 14 miles of the Mattapoisett River that winds from Grandma Hartley’s Reservoir in Snipatuit Pond in Rochester all the way to the Herring Weir in Mattapoisett off River Road and Route 6.
