In Marion, the parade included Cub Scout Pack 32, Master of Ceremonies Joe Napoli, and the Sippican School Band. In Mattpoisett, Daniel Mazzuca gave a speech that focused on what our country can do for veterans in need of jobs, housing, and mental health services. Buttonwood Park Zoo’s Annual Poetry Contest427 viewsAlyssa Clancy, a fifth grade student at the Rochester Memorial School, took second place in the Buttonwood Park Zoo’s annual poetry contest. Alyssa’s poem entitled “The Suffolk Punch Draft Horse” took second place in the 5th grade category. Over three hundred entries were submitted from across the Southcoast from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Alyssa took second place last year in the 4th grade category and was the only repeat award winner.

The sublime sensory experience that is the Rochester Country Fair! What is more fun than four fun-filled days of frog racing, tractor pulling, mechanic bull riding, and fried food eating? Classic Cars427 viewsClassic car enthusiasts from the area gathered Monday nights throughout the summer, riding up in their shiny antique cars and pulling up a lawn chair to sit back and reminisce about the good old days to the sounds of music from the ‘50s and ‘60s. Rochester Memorial Day427 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade.
