Mattapoisett Fire Department689 viewsOn Sunday, firefighters completed a 110-floor stair climb in full structural firefighting gear in Portland, Maine in honor of the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on 9/11. The climb was sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and each climber was assigned a fallen FDNY firefighters accountability tag with their name and picture, which made the climb that much more important to everyone involved.

Before the crafting began, more than 20 children learned that these creations were originally fabricated in Barbados by English women living there. The “Valentines” were sold as tourist items.
