Mattapoisett Woman's Club694 viewsThis past Saturday, the Mattapoisett Woman's Club (MWC) planted daffodil bulbs at several sites in town. The MWC is grateful for the donations from the Lion's Club, Mahoney's, and the Mattapoisett Highway Department for preparing the various places for planting. Tripp Mill694 viewsThere’s a new historical plaque situated at the site of the former Tripp Mill. Located on the west branch of the Mattapoisett River off Acushnet Road, Tripp Mill was owned and operated for decades by members of the Tinkham family. A stone spillway remains at the site. The over 20-acre Tinkham Pond fed by the Mattapoisett River along with other contiguous parcels are now part of conservation lands held in part by the Buzzards Bay Coalition and the U.S Fish and Wildlife Department.

A Tribute to Heroes693 viewsMattapoisett artist and sculptor Keith Francis poses with the sculpture he designed and built in tribute to the Worcester Six, the firefighters who perished in the tragic Worcester Warehouse fire on December 3, 1999. Mattapoisett Fire Department 693 viewsOn March 6 at approximately 10:09 am, the Mattapoisett Fire Department was dispatched to 141 Fairhaven Road for a reported structure fire. Fire Chief Andrew Murray arrived on scene at 10:11 am and reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the rear of the structure. At the time, a first-alarm assignment was requested to the scene, bringing in engines from Marion and Fairhaven Fire. Rochester Fire responded to Mattapoisett fire station for station coverage.
