A Tribute to Heroes646 viewsMattapoisett artist and sculptor Keith Francis designed and built this tribute to the Worcester Six, the firefighters who perished in the tragic Worcester Warehouse fire on December 3, 1999. The massive one-ton sculpture now sits in his North Street backyard in clear view of several neighbors who are either firefighters, retired firefighters or relatives of firefighters. Route 6 Crash646 viewsJust before 3pm June 29, 2009 the Mattapoisett Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash at Route 6 and Main Street, which slowed down the already heavy summer traffic. Multiple injuries were reported in the two-vehicle crash to which two ambulances responded. One of the victims was immobilized on a backboard as a precautionary measure while transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation. The Fairhaven and Marion Police Departments also responded to assist at the scene.

Pinewood Derby646 viewsMattapoisett Pack 53 held its Pinewood Derby on March 9 at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. The Cub Scout division had 14 entries, and the Enthusiasts division had 11 entries. The five fastest Cub Scouts cars going to the regional competition in Rochester on March 23: 1st Gabe Michaud, 2nd Kyle Pina, 3rd Thomas Tseki, 4th Matthew Crain, and 5th Eamon Perez. Matthew Crain's blue and gold lego car won Best Scout Theme car, and the Most Unique Design went to Liam Garvin's camping car.
