Shakespeare for Scaredy Cats215 viewsThe Mattapoisett COA's Shakespeare for Scaredy Cats members recently attended a fast-moving and more contemporary rendition of Shakespeare's play, Measure for Measure, at the Burbage Theatre in Pawtucket, RI. Director and Artistic Director Jeff Church and his very skilled actors opened this dark and tragic comedy with a fast-moving party and closed it with many of the characters having learned their lessons, at least for the moment. But not all problems were resolved; a lone character remained on the stage

Last weekend at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, art created by students of Ms. Greta Anderson’s art class at Old Hammondtown School was on display. But not just any art, this was for the Annual Arbor Day Poster Contest sponsored by the state and the Mattapoisett Tree Committee. The 5K began at Shipyard Park and cut down Ned’s Point Road to the point, around the lighthouse and back. The Grinch led the pack on his bike, and residents stood by to cheer on all the runners.
