Several (mostly older) residents held it from beaching in rough waters for approximately an hour while waiting for help from Mattapoisett Boatyard and while trying to reach a young volunteer who coordinates all things related to the raft. The gang got in touch with the Harbormaster and Mattapoisett Police, but before wildlife experts would arrive on the scene, the tide rose, and the manatee ventured back to sea. The Great Community Picnic 196 viewsMattapoisett Museum and the Mattapoisett Land Trust held The Great Community Picnic on Thursday, August 7 at Munro Preserve on the water. Tickets were sold out and the venue was filled up. Oysters were served alongside beer and whatever food the over 20 different tables decided to bring. The group meets at the Rochester Council on Aging and welcomes like-minded artists to join them.
