Mattapoisett Polar Plunge253 viewsNew Year’s Day 2023 was bright and balmy when over 100 “plungers” ran, walked, hopped and slid into the freezing waters at Mattapoisett Town Beach. The event was hosted by an ad hoc group collecting donations for those battling cancer. The group has been successful in their efforts to help offset the unseen costs associated with a cancer diagnosis impacting local families. Marion Natural History Museum253 viewsOn July 16, the Marion Natural History Museum's community group had a chance to explore some of our local butterfly species. We found a Clouded Sulphur, Eastern tailed blue, Monarchs, Little Wood Satyrs, Common Wood Nymphs, and two Pearl Crescents. We also learned to identify some of their host plants including Butterfly Weed, Milkweed, Sweet Pepperbush and Mountain Mint. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club252 viewsAt the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club luncheon on March 17, members donated to support World Central Kitchen for Ukraine and filled a jar with cash and checks totaling $500. The next afternoon, March 18, several members of the Garden Group collaborated to create window-box displays at the Mattapoisett Post Office. The design was created by Sharon Doyon to show support for the people of Ukraine. The Garden Group was honored to have several people stop to comment and thank them for their efforts

Beaudoin were Assistant Harbormaster Robert Clavin and intern Robert Haskell, and on the Mattapoisett Fire Department boat were Firefighter Daniel Cortes and Lieutenant Ross Macedo.
