Mattapoisett Land Trust240 viewsOn May 6, volunteers from the Mattapoisett Land Trust planted over two dozen sunflower seedlings in a row along Route 6 at Dunseith Park, just in front of Salty the Seahorse. Don Cuddy donated the seedlings and organized the planting as a symbolic gesture of MLT standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. This summer, it is anticipated that the plants will grow to noticeable heights. Photos courtesy of Mattapoisett Land Trust

Mattapoisett Public Library239 viewsOn March 19, the Mattapoisett Public Library hosted another chapter in their sustainability programing with a taste testing of plant-based alternatives to cow's milk. "Milk" from oatmeal, almonds, coconuts, rice, flax seed, soy and even hemp were sipped and evaluated on several criteria including taste. The consensus was mixed with some milks tasting too strongly of their base ingredient such as almonds, too sweet and even too salty, while others passed the test.

Mattapoisett Public Library239 viewsMattapoisett Public Library is now exhibiting works created by the dynamic artistic duo of Dianne and Dick Morgado. Their works, hers in photography and his painting, take both media to the height of excellence in execution and subject matter. Dick Morgado's portraits do more than reflect a face; they search for experiences it has weathered, joy it has seen and contemplation of tomorrow. Photos by Marilou Newell
