Great Picnic237 viewsAttendees at Friday night’s “Great Picnic” on the one-acre Munro preserve overlooking Mattapoisett Harbor enjoyed live music and adorned their tables with creatively competitive centerpieces featuring everything from a palm tree to pickleballs. Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years. Rockets237 viewsMattapoisett Library hosted Dr. Sandra Pearl of SEED Education on September 21. SEED is a regional, nonprofit organization run by Ph.D. scientists with a passion for empowering teachers with the confidence to instill a love of science in their students. Pearl led a group of eager students through science experiments geared to launching things into the air. There was age-appropriate physics, chemistry and just plain fun. The activity was made possible through a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council.

Mattapoisett Woman's Club237 viewsInclement weather forced the Mattapoisett Woman's Club to move its Holidays Wreath and Greens Sale indoors, and the club was thrilled that the December 3 event, with the assistance of MWC members Cindy Turse and Sandy Hering, Fire Chief Andy Murray and Town Administrator Mike Lorenco, was able to go on as scheduled in the Old Firehouse on Route 6. Wreaths sold out within the first hour of the sale, with swags, table pieces, box designs and special ornaments, all exquisitely hand-decorated

Taking first place for best centerpiece was Table 29 with its Barbie theme. The Whale, at Table 1, was runner-up, and the Bird table (27) was third.
