Bright blue skies graced the heavens while here on earth, children cavorted across Shipyard Park with seasonal tunes playing in the background like “Purple People Eater”.

Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along263 viewsThe 70th annual Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Choir Sing-Along. Smiles and merriment abound in this small but cozy and inviting environment. Not a free pew was seen and all smiled. The chapel was built in 1889 and has been maintained by locals who care deeply for its continued standing and operation. Polar Plunge263 viewsOn New Years Day, hundreds were arrayed at Mattapoisett Town Beach for this year’s Mattapoisett Polar Plunge. Since 2013, the beach has seen residents and visitors run into the freezing Atlantic to kick off the new year. The event is held by Keep On Plungin’ who, through the selling of baked goods, coffee, and hot chocolate, donate all proceeds of the fridged plunge to local families grappling with the costs of cancer treatment. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club262 viewsAt the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club luncheon on March 17, members donated to support World Central Kitchen for Ukraine and filled a jar with cash and checks totaling $500. The next afternoon, March 18, several members of the Garden Group collaborated to create window-box displays at the Mattapoisett Post Office. The design was created by Sharon Doyon to show support for the people of Ukraine. The Garden Group was honored to have several people stop to comment and thank them for their efforts
