Polar Plunge399 viewsOn New Years Day, hundreds were arrayed at Mattapoisett Town Beach for this year’s Mattapoisett Polar Plunge. Since 2013, the beach has seen residents and visitors run into the freezing Atlantic to kick off the new year. The event is held by Keep On Plungin’ who, through the selling of baked goods, coffee, and hot chocolate, donate all proceeds of the fridged plunge to local families grappling with the costs of cancer treatment. Marion Garden Group398 viewsFour times a year members of the Marion Garden Group gather to plant over 15 window box, planters and urns throughout Marion Village. Each year Spring is welcomed with a profusion of colorful pansies. This year members decided to dedicate their efforts toward indicating our support for Ukraine. “Pansies lend themselves easily to this sort of tribute” Suzy Taylor, Garden Group Vice President said. “We partnered with Eden’s to find the best shade to represent the blue.”

Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years.
