Marion Garden Group311 viewsFour times a year members of the Marion Garden Group gather to plant over 15 window box, planters and urns throughout Marion Village. Each year Spring is welcomed with a profusion of colorful pansies. This year members decided to dedicate their efforts toward indicating our support for Ukraine. “Pansies lend themselves easily to this sort of tribute” Suzy Taylor, Garden Group Vice President said. “We partnered with Eden’s to find the best shade to represent the blue.”

Rockets311 viewsMattapoisett Library hosted Dr. Sandra Pearl of SEED Education on September 21. SEED is a regional, nonprofit organization run by Ph.D. scientists with a passion for empowering teachers with the confidence to instill a love of science in their students. Pearl led a group of eager students through science experiments geared to launching things into the air. There was age-appropriate physics, chemistry and just plain fun. The activity was made possible through a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council.

Center School311 viewsCenter School in Mattapoisett was temporarily evacuated on March 13 after a small transformer malfunctioned in the electrical room and created a light-smoke condition, according to Mattapoisett Fire Chief Andy Murray. The transformer was isolated and de-energized. The Fire Department ventilated the room and reset the alarm. All hazards were addressed, and the students, staff and Council on Aging personnel were allowed back in the building. Photo by Shawn Sweet
