Bright blue skies graced the heavens while here on earth, children cavorted across Shipyard Park with seasonal tunes playing in the background like “Purple People Eater”.

Salty Soirée318 viewsSince 2007, the Mattapoisett Land Trust has invited the community to a soirée at the site of Salty the Seahorse. The Halloween themed party on October 19 featured musical performances by Jeff and Lisa Dunn, storytelling by the campfire with Karen Chace, and make-your-own s’mores. The entrance to the park at the corner of Route 6 and North Street was lined with luminarias decorated by Center School students. First introduced by MLT member Don Cuddy. Photos by Marilou Newell

Salty's Silvery Moon Soiree317 viewsOn the evening of October 23, the Mattapoisett Land Trust hosted its annual Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree at Dunseith Gardens. The yearly autumn event finds families gathering around a roaring fire pit and toasting marshmallows or creating delicious desserts while listening to live music. Whale Bark Wanderer317 viewsMattapoisett Museum Curator Connor Gaudet and volunteer Bob Clifford unpack the custom model of the Whale Bark Wanderer 1878 recreated by artist George Lowery from scratch and donated to the museum. The model arrived on Tuesday afternoon from Arizona in a crate weighing a total of 181 pounds.
