Hundreds of children enjoyed face painting, fortune tellers, hayrides and games with a Halloween theme. King Lion Kimberly Ray said the event is an opportunity for people of all economic backgrounds to enjoy a family day together for free. Keep on Plungin’ 274 viewsThe annual Keep on Plungin’ New Year’s Day swim drew well over 100 participants to Mattapoisett Town Beach, continuing a tradition started in 2013 by Will and Michelle Huggins to help families facing expenses related to cancer care. In the last two years, the community-driven effort has benefitted three families and Dana Farber with a $1,000 donation in Huggins’ honor. This year, organizers anticipate supporting at least two more families with checks for $2,000. Photos by Mick Colageo

Melody Pacheco273 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade.
