Mattapoisett Retiries 359 viewsFour recently retired, municipal employee relations were honored Tuesday afternoon for their long tenure and service to Mattapoisett and its residents at an outdoor ceremony. The four retirees are former Library Director Susan Pizzolato (11 years), former assistant Harbormaster Bob Ketchel (25 years), and Highway Department employees Jay DuPont (19 years) and Roger Fleurent (12 years). Pizzolato and Ketchel also received citations from the House of Representatives and the state senate.

Fish Ladder Repair359 viewsThe Mattapoisett Water Department, along with the assistance of the state’s Division of Marine Fisheries and local herring inspectors, were able to purchase the necessary lumber and rebuild the fish ladder at the Mattapoisett River Dam. There are 13 ladders that make up the weir, which allows easier access for the herring to head upstream. They are hoping to see the first few fish within the next couple of weeks. Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Carol Singalong359 viewsSunday's participants in the Tinkhamtown Chapel Christmas Carol Singalong braved a dramatic, postsunset drop in temperature and enjoyed the warmth of a solo bonfire loaned to the event by Lee Heald. Gail Roberts led distributed sheet music and led in song with musicians Louise Anthony playing the fiddle and Jack Dean the ukulele. Roberts thanked the White family for providing refreshments, the Chapel committee for its effort in maintaining the chapel
