Mattapoisett Bike Path300 viewsPlanking for the bike path is under test review, and the installation of railings along the elevated sections of railings can be seen from the Reservation Road portion of Phase 1b of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. Town Administrator Mike Lorenco said that although a different type of planking material is being tested, the town will not accept the project for ownership until MassDOT enters into a joint-ownership agreement and/or provides bonding assurances in the event of material failure as previous experience

Mattapoisett Congregational Church299 viewsMattapoisett Congregational Church held outdoor service on Sunday featuring “Bring your own lawn chair,” as some folks sat in cars at curbside. No hymns were sung by members; the socially distant, mask-clad crowd enjoyed musical tunes by Jake Huntsinger, and Pastor Amy Lignitz-Harken gave the sermon. Brad Hathaway299 viewsIt took 32 years, but on October 3 Mattapoisett resident Brad Hathaway completed his “Walk around the World” along Aucoot Road, accompanied by well over 100 friends and supporters of his mission refocused some years ago from what had begun as a fitness prescription to a fundraising effort for the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Hathaway, 88, is a co-founder of the MLT and has dedicated his life toward preserving and protecting lands that his ancestors first came upon hundreds of years ago.

Melody Pacheco299 viewsOn March 17 family, friends, and co-workers came out in force to beep and wave at retiring Mattapoisett Town Hall employee Melody Pacheco, who ended her 35-year career after serving in a variety of capacities, including assistant to the town administrator, for over a decade.
